After the Indian national anthem, Jana Gana Mana accidentally played before the Australia vs England match in Lahore, the Pakistan Cricket Board approached the International Cricket Council and asked for clarification on the major blunder that happened at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Ahead of the match between Australia and England, the national anthem of the United Kingdom, God Save The King, was played without any error.

Instead of following it up with the Australian national anthem, Advance Australia Fair, a recording of the Indian national anthem started playing before it was halted and changed.

According to a report in ESPNCricinfo, the Pakistan Cricket Board is expectedly unhappy with the mistake, which it has blamed ICC for.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has questioned the presence of the Indian national anthem in the playlist to start with, given that India aren’t playing any of their games in the neighbouring country.

During the second match of the Champions Trophy in Dubai, when India played Bangladesh, Pakistan’s name was omitted from the logo on the official broadcast, for which PCB approached ICC two days before and it was followed by the latest anthem fiasco.

ICC put that down to a technical issue, though it was an explanation that did not satisfy the Pakistan Cricket Board. The world body assured that such an incident wouldn’t be repeated, regardless of where the matches were being held.

The assurance from ICC means that the broadcast for Sunday’s match between India and arch-rivals Pakistan in Dubai, the most anticipated game of the Champions Trophy, will include the latter’s name on the official on-screen logo.

India had refused to travel to Pakistan citing security concerns and are playing their share of Champions Trophy matches in Dubai. The arch-rivals are set to clash on Sunday, February 23 in a crucial game, a defeat in which will knock Pakistan out of the tournament, in which they are defending champions.

Pakistan are coming off a 60-run defeat to New Zealand in the opening game of the Champions Trophy, while India won their first match against Bangladesh by six wickets and come into the marquee clash as firm favourites.
