The Pakistan Cricket Board has written to the International Cricket Council after the host country’s name was omitted from the logo during the India vs Bangladesh broadcast, with just two days to go for the marquee India vs Pakistan clash, according to a report in ESPNCricinfo.

The logo in the top left corner of the broadcast carried the tournament name, Champions Trophy 2025, but not Pakistan’s name, the hosts, for the entire duration of the game, which was played in Dubai and was won by India by six wickets.

This was unlike the broadcast graphics for the other games of the Champions Trophy till now including the tournament opener between Pakistan and New Zealand in Karachi where the tournament name, besides Pakistan’s name, was visible on the broadcast.

It is visible for the ongoing game between Afghanistan and South Africa in Karachi as well. The report says that Pakistan is resentful of the situation and has asked for assurances that it will not happen again.

The report says that ICC told the Pakistan Cricket Board that it was a technical mistake, but the explanation has left the board unhappy.

As per procedure, graphics are prepared and given to the live ICC feed in advance and the fact that it was perfect in the opening game but went missing during India’s match has left the board unconvinced.

ICC has maintained that the incident occurred because of a technical issue and has clarified this is not a problem that will affect any future matches, regardless of whether they are played in Pakistan or Dubai.

The next match in Dubai will be the Champions Trophy’s most followed, with India facing official hosts Pakistan on Sunday, February 23.

The problem over where the Champions Trophy takes place became a huge topic of debate over the last few months leading up to the event, with Pakistan demanding they host every match since ICC awarded them rights to the whole event.

BCCI informed the Pakistan Cricket Board that the Indian government didn’t allow them to play in the neighbouring country and insisted on a neutral venue for India’s games.
