Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal’s mammoth partnership helped IND-W breach the 400-run mark for the first time in Women’s One-Day Internationals.
India Women went on to register the fourth-highest total in ODIs after Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana notched a 233-run stand for the opening wicket where both batters went on to register their tons in the third ODI against Ireland Women at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on Wednesday.
The Indian opening duo set the platform for their highest-ever score in WODIs where they breached the 400-run mark for the first time in their history. Mandhana scored a quickfire 135 in 80 balls while Pratika Rawal scored a mammoth 154 off 129 deliveries. Richa Ghosh who came in at 3 also scored a quickfire 59 to help boost the host’s first-innings total.
The record for the highest total in WODIs belongs to New Zealand who also hold the second and third-highest scores. Ireland was once again on the receiving end when they conceded 491 runs for the loss of only four wickets during the WODI that took place in 2018.
Coming to India’s case, this is also their highest WODI score. It went past the previous record-holder 370/5, which they scored in the same series for the 2nd match, just a few days ago.

The stand-in skipper, Mandhana took the more aggressive route where she smashed 12 boundaries and seven maximums in her knock. Her opening partner, took a more measured approach as she smashed 20 boundaries with just a single maximum in her innings.
The 233-run stand for the first wicket also makes the duo the fourth Indian pair to have recorded a double-century stand in the 50-over format. The previous instances were Deepti Sharma and Poonam Raut’s record 320-run stand against Ireland in 2017, Mithali Raj and Reshma Gandhi with their 258-run stand for the opening wicket in 2005 and finally, Jaya Sharma and Anjum Chopra’s unbeaten 223 runs stand against Pakistan in 2005.
