Prior to the Women’s Premier League 2025 player auction, the Gujarat Giants have announced some major changes to their coaching line-up. Pravin Tambe and Daniel Marsh are set to be the side’s new bowling and batting coach respectively, with Michael Klinger set to continue his role as the Head Coach.

Tambe is known for having made his IPL debut at the age of 41 years old. But he now has a wealth of experience as a coach, having worked for the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Lucknow Super Giants.

“Joining Gujarat Giants as the Bowling Coach is an exciting new chapter in my cricketing journey. I’m eager to work with this talented group of players to sharpen their skills and help them excel,” Tambe shared.

Marsh who will now look after the batting unit, will look to make use of his experience to improve the side by bringing in a fearless approach to their batting. He has been the Tasmania Men’s Team Coach from 2013-17 and was also the Australian Women’s team’s assistant coach in 2022.

“I’m excited to be joining Gujarat Giants. I look forward to developing a fearless approach to our batting with the aim of making our team one of the strongest batting units of the WPL,” said Marsh, who is known for his extensive coaching experience,” Marsh shared.

Klinger, a former Australian international known for his experience in franchise and domestic cricket, also brings in his vast knowledge having coached the Melbourne Renegades and the Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League.

One of the major points that he wants to focus on is to bring in a winning culture within the team and also continue to strive for improvement ahead of the new season.

Klinger said, “We laid solid groundwork last season, and I’m excited to build on that with the talented players we have retained in the squad. Our focus remains on fostering a winning mindset and pushing the boundaries of what we can achieve as a team. It is incredibly rewarding to see so many of our Gujarat Giants players representing India since the last WPL season. This invaluable high-level experience will undoubtedly strengthen our squad for the upcoming season.”

GG have been the worst-performing franchise in the five-team franchise tournament having finished fifth in both seasons so far. With the additions of Tambe and Klinger to the coaching staff, they would want to go into the auction to find the right players to bolster their team and hopefully, put up a better performance in the new season.

The WPL auction is set to take place on December 15 in Bengaluru and the Gujarat-based franchise has a total of Rs 4.4 crore in their purse, the most among all teams ahead of the event.
