India’s wicketkeeper-batter, Rishabh Pant seems to have his eyes on the prize as the 27-year-old shared a post on social media ahead of the second Test against Australia in Adelaide as part of the Border-Gavaskar series.

Pant on his official handle on X (formerly known as Twitter), shared a post from the gym alongside Virat Kohli, and some members of the Indian team management. He shared the post with the caption, “Progress Over Perfection”.

The left-hander remains a crucial element in the Indian team with his abilities with the bat and the gloves. While the team did not need his typical match-saving performances in the series opener, it would not be out of the question if Pant would have to come up with something with the bat later on in the series.

India has picked up the win by a whopping 295-run margin in Perth to start the series on a positive note. But now the Aussies will be even more desperate to get back against the Indian team where they hope to level the series.

The second Test will be a day-night affair with the pink ball which will serve as a different challenge altogether. India, during their practice game against the Prime Minister’s XI, had a positive show despite the likes of Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah not participating.

During the match, the wicketkeeping duties were split amongst Pant, Dhruv Jurel and Sarfaraz Khan. Pant finished the game with just one catch from behind the stumps and did not walk out to bat.

Nonetheless, he will look to improve on his performances from the series opener where he was dismissed on 37 and 1 respectively. The Aussies will be keeping a close eye on the southpaw who has built a name of taking the game against the opposition in an aggressive manner with the bat.

India will also receive a massive boost with the likes of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill back in the selection fold ahead of the Adelaide Test. But the side will have to come to a decision on whether they break the successful opening combination between Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul to accommodate Rohit.
