Punjab Kings, under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer and Yuzvendra Chahal’s four-wicket haul, helped secure a historic 16-run win over the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Mullanpur Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
After being restricted to just 111 with Harshit Rana being the pick of the KKR bowlers with figures of 3/25 in just three overs, Punjab Kings were able to make it into a low-scoring thriller with Yuzvendra Chahal leading the charge at Mullanpur.
The veteran leg-spinner finished with figures of 4/28 in his quota of four overs and had Marco Jansen as well in support with 3/17 as he thrived with the new ball and helped finish things off as well.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi was the only KKR batter to put up a decent fight. He scored 37 in 28 balls but struggled to find support from the other end. Jansen, alongside the debutant Xavier Bartlett, got rid of the opening pair of Sunil Narine and Quinton de Kock in the first two overs of the innings.
