Ace India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who is currently playing for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025, was on Friday seen trying to stop a panellist on his YouTube channel from delving into a discussion on MS Dhoni, after an outrage had been sparked following certain comments made on CSK on the channel.
Ashwin promised not to post videos covering Chennai and their games after a controversy erupted midway during IPL 2025.
At one point in the video, the panellist was speaking on how good captaincy goes a long way, and Ashwin got restless when Dhoni’s name popped up.
“I’m so happy that you won the match. Ashwin, the only thing is that you’ve led the team a lot. The team that you’ve led has won the TNPL. What I feel is that leadership is very, very important,” Rajamani Prabhu said.
Prabhu was the strength and conditioning coach at the Rajasthan Royals till IPL 2024.
“That leader is someone like Sanju, someone like Shreyas Iyer, someone like Thala Dhoni,” Prabhu said.
Ashwin tried to stop the former RR assistant coach from going any further with the discussion, having promised not to discuss CSK matters on his channel.
“No, you shouldn’t be the one talking. I can talk. I’m an audience member,” Prabhu replied.
“I’ve never spoken about my team in RR as well,” Ashwin said. The star Indian spinner played for Rajasthan till IPL 2024, after which he was released and picked up by Chennai in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Watch the viral video here:
“Given the nature of the discussions on this forum over the last week, we want to be mindful of how things can be interpreted and have chosen to step away from covering CSK games, both previews and reviews, for the rest of this season,” a note on Ashwin’s channel said earlier this month.
A controversy arose towards the end of the last month when a panellist criticised Chennai’s decision to pick Noor Ahmad despite having Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja in the team.
CSK next play the Mumbai Indians on Sunday, April 20, at the Wankhede Stadium.
