A day after announcing his retirement from international cricket, star Indian spinner R. Ashwin landed in India on Thursday, and in several videos going viral on the internet, he can be seen coming out of the Chennai airport.
Star Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who announced his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday, December 18, returned to India on Thursday (December 19). In several videos going viral on the internet, the 38-year-old spinner, who last played for India during the second Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Adelaide, can be seen coming out of the Chennai airport.
Ashwin, who made his international debut for India in June 2010 against Sri Lanka during an ODI match played in Harare, addressed mediapersons on Wednesday after the conclusion of the 3rd India-Australia Test in Brisbane and confirmed that he is retiring from international cricket with immediate effect.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma later confirmed to reporters that Ashwin will be travelling back to India tomorrow (Thursday), and on the morning of December 19, the premier spinner was seen coming out of the airport.
Ashwin’s record in international cricket
During his 14-year-long international career, Ashwin played a total of 106 Tests, 116 ODIs, and 65 T20Is for the Indian team and accounted for the dismissal of 537, 156, and 72 batters. In addition to his bowling, Ashwin, who won the ICC Cricketer and ICC Test Cricketer of the Year award in 2016, scored 3503, 707, and 184 runs.
