Star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja on Sunday (April 20) joined legendary MS Dhoni in an elite list by becoming the fifth Chennai Super Kings batter to score 2000 runs in the IPL. Jadeja came out to bat at No. 4 for the MS Dhoni-led side against the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2025 match currently underway at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and, during his stay at the crease, with the help of four fours and two sixes, scored 53 runs from 35 balls.

He now has 2042 runs to his name in 180 IPL matches for the Chennai-based franchise.

The overall record of scoring most runs in the IPL for CSK is in the name of Dhoni. The 43-year-old wicketkeeper-batter has scored 4803 in 242 matches played so far. He is followed by Suresh Raina (4687), Faf du Plessis (2721) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (2502).

Before Jadeja helped CSK post a fighting total against the Hardik Pandya-led side in Mumbai, 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre impressed everyone with his batting performances. The Mumbai-based cricketer, in his first-ever IPL match, came out to bat at No. 3 and, with the help of four fours and two sixes, scored 32 runs from 15 balls. He opened his account with a single on the first ball he faced against Ashwani Kumar, and then on the next three balls, he hammered the 24-year-old batter from Punjab for one four and two sixes in a row.

Mhatre added 41 runs for the second wicket with Shaik Rasheed (19 runs from 20 balls). Mhatre, who joined CSK earlier this week as an injury replacement of Ruturaj Gaikwad, was sent back to the pavilion by Deepak Chahar on the fifth ball of the seventh over of CSK’s innings.
