The two five-wicket hauls in the third Test against New Zealand have taken Jadeja’s tally of fifers to 15, which is one more than Bedi’s tally of 14.
Star Indian spinner Ravindra Jadeja dismissed New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel for 8 runs from 23 balls in the morning session of the third day’s play to complete his second five-wicket haul in the ongoing third Test against New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The 35-year-old cricketer finished with figures of 5 for 65 in 22 overs in the first inning and got rid of five Kiwi batters for 55 runs in the second.
By taking two five-wicket hauls in the third Test, Jadeja has taken his tally of fifers in Tests to 15, which is one more than legendary spinner Bishan Singh Bedi. During his playing days, Bedi played 67 Tests for India and picked up 14 five-wicket hauls, whereas Jadeja has 15 fifers to his name in 77 matches.
The record of taking most five-wicket hauls for India in Tests is in the name of R Ashwin. In 105 matches played so far, Ashwin has dismissed five or more batters in an inning on 37 occasions. He is followed by Anil Kumble (35), Harbhajan Singh (25), Kapil Dev (23) and Bhagwath Chandrasekhar (16).

The 10 wickets in the Mumbai Test have taken Jadeja’s tally of wickets to 127 in the World Test Championship (WTC), which is three more than Jasprit Bumrah’s 124. He has become the second most successful bowler for India in the WTC and also became the second Indian after Ashwin to take 50 or more wickets in a single edition of the WTC.
