Mohammed Siraj, omitted from India’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 squad, hinted at a comeback with an Instagram post. Despite his exclusion, Siraj remains determined and will compete in the Ranji Trophy for Hyderabad.

India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has hinted at a comeback after his omission from India’s provisional squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
The Champions Trophy squad announcement on January 18 left several fans and pundits scratching their heads. Siraj, who has regularly featured for India in white-ball cricket, was excluded from the 15-man shortlist for the ICC event.
Following his snub, the 30-year-old pacer shared an Instagram story titled – “Reset, Restart, Refocus.” Siraj’s inspiring words showed that the talented bowler is determined to bounce back from the disappointment and is already working hard towards earning his place in India’s senior team again.
In the photograph, the Indian speedster could be seen posing in front of a row of dumbbells as he flashed a slight smile. Siraj was rocking a typical gym outfit that included a full-sleeved black t-shirt and grey shorts. He topped it off with a pair of white sneakers. His new look suggested that the bowler was already back to the grind to regain his place in the national team.
Mohammed Siraj was a part of India’s bowling unit that travelled to Australia last year for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. While Siraj didn’t have the best showing in the tournament, he found impact for the Rohit Sharma-led side in multiple games. He was the fourth-highest wicket-taker in the series behind Jasprit Bumrah, Pat Cummins, and Scott Boland.
In the five matches he played, Siraj scalped 20 wickets at an average of 31.15 and an economy of 3.96. During the five-match Test battle, the 30-year-old also found himself at the centre of controversy after a heated exchange with Australia batter Travis Head who finished the series as the top scorer (448 runs).
While Mohammed Siraj will miss out on Champions Trophy action this year, he will still have the opportunity to showcase his bowling skills in domestic cricket. The 30-year-old pacer is one of India’s many Test stars who is set to compete in the Ranji Trophy. He will likely be featured during Hyderabad’s final group game against Vidarbha next week.
Due to workload management, Siraj has been rested for his side’s upcoming fixture against Himachal Pradesh. Hyderabad is currently placed sixth in Group B, having won just once in their last five matches, with another two games ending in a draw.
