Rishabh Pant was released by Delhi Capitals ahead of IPL mega auction where he was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for a record-breaking price.
Rishabh Pant has penned an emotional note for his previous IPL franchise Delhi Capitals after having joined Lucknow Super Giants for the next season. The wicketkeeper-batter made his debut for DC and was associated with the franchise for eight years.
However, ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, Pant and DC reportedly failed to reach common ground as to the future direction of the team. As a result, Pant was released by the franchise.
As expected, Pant shattered records when he was bought by LSG for Rs 27 crore which has made him the costliest ever player in the history of IPL auctions.
With the two-day IPL auction, held in Jeddah, concluding on Monday, Pant wrote, “The journey with Delhi Capitals has been nothing short of amazing. From the thrills on the field to the moments off it, I’ve grown in ways I never imagined. I came here as a teenager and we grew together over the last nine
years.”
He also thanked fans for standing by him in “one of the toughest phases” of his life. The 27-year-old was referring to the time he was forced away from the cricket field after suffering horrific injuries in a car accident.
