The BCCI on Friday shared a video in which wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant claimed he dismissed Jasprit Bumrah in the nets while the pacer denied it.

Preparations are in full swing Down Under as India is gearing up for the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Perth, starting next Friday. The players are sweating it out in the nets as well as in the intra-squad matches before locking horns with Pat Cummins’ Australia. Apart from the intense training, the players are also engaging in some light-hearted conversations and banter.
The BCCI on Friday shared a video in which wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant claimed he dismissed Jasprit Bumrah in the nets while the pacer denied it. Pant was seen rolling his arms over along with bowling coach Morne Morkel as Bumrah finetuned his batting skills in the nets.
Pant put a bet worth USD 100 on dismissing Bumrah in the nets. The keeper-batter then sought help from the bowling coach who bowled a bouncer but Bumrah survived. Pant then bowled a short delivery which Bumrah pulled towards the leg side.
Pant claimed his wicket saying it would’ve gone straight to the fielder with Morkel agreeing.
“Jasprit Bumrah ko pel diya hai maine, net pe out kara hai 1 wicket mila hai (I’ve dismissed Jasprit Bumrah and got 1 wicket),” Pant said in the video.
In return, the fast bowler quipped, “His bowling action is illegal. It’s not out, it’s a four or it’s a two, I’ve connected a pull shot. He thinks he has 7 fielders there. He should not be allowed to bowl.”
Kohli, Rahul suffer injury scare
Rahul and Virat Kohli reportedly suffered injury scares on Friday during India’s intra-squad match at WACA Stadium in Perth. Rahul didn’t look very comfortable after being struck. He tried to resume batting but failed to do so.
On the other hand, Kohli underwent scans for a mystery injury. According to a report in the Sydney Morning Herald on Friday, the nature of Kohli’s injury is still unclear, but a source with direct knowledge of the matter said that he did have scans on Thursday.
