Star Indian wicketkeeper-batter took to X on Wednesday to respond to various fans’ questions, and during the session he was asked to describe his Indian teammate Jasprit Bumrah in one word. The 27-year-old cricketer, who was last seen in action for India in the recently concluded five-match Test series against Australia, reserved ultimate praise for the 31-year-old fast bowler and described him as “GOAT.”

Bumrah, who sits at No. 1 position in the ICC Test bowler’s ranking, was in red-hot form in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He played in all five matches and accounted for the dismissal of 32 batters, which is the most by any Indian cricketer in a Test series played away from home.

For his super show with the ball, which also helped him become India’s most successful Test bowler in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia) countries and the joint-leading wicket-taker in one edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Bumrah won the Player of the Series award.

The right-arm fast bowler is expected to be picked in India’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 squad, which is likely to be announced by BCCI in the coming days. There are question marks over Bumrah’s place due to his back injury. The star fast bowler didn’t come out to bowl for India in the second innings of the Sydney Test against Australia due to back spasms.

During the #AskRP session, Pant also replied to former England captain Michael Vaughan’s “Do you think England will win the Ashes this year?” question and wrote, “The team which will play better cricket will win.”

England is all set to travel to Australia later this year to take part in the 2025-26 edition of the Ashes, and the Poms will look to end the 15-year-long wait for winning a Test series in Australia this time around.

The 27-year-old cricketer from Roorkee, who became the most expensive player in IPL history last year after securing a deal worth Rs 27 crore from Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2025 mega auction, was also asked to name one Indian player from the past he would have loved to play with, and in reply to that question, he mentioned Virender Sehwag’s name.
