Indian men’s cricket team captain Rohit Sharma entered his name in the history books on Thursday, February 20, by becoming the second-fastest batter in the world after Virat Kohli to score 11,000 runs in ODIs. The 37-year-old right-handed batter crossed the 11000-run mark in the 261st inning of his 269th ODI match for Men in Blue, which is currently underway at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai against Bangladesh.
Kohli, who has 13,963 runs to his name in 297 ODIs played so far, crossed the 11,000 run mark in ODIs during his 222nd innings of the 230th match played against Pakistan in Manchester on June 16, 2019.
Rohit is the fourth Indian and overall 10th batter in the world to score 11,000 runs in ODIs.
Rohit, who has three centuries to his name in four matches played so far against Bangladesh in ICC ODI events, would like to convert his good start into a big score on Thursday as well and help India chase down the target of 229 runs in the first Group A match of the Champions Trophy.
