Indian men’s cricket team captain Rohit Sharma scored a century off just 76 balls against England on Sunday, February 9, in the second ODI of the ongoing three-match series played at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. Rohit faced a total of 90 balls during his stay at the crease, and with the help of 12 fours and 7 sixes, scored 119 runs. The century on Sunday was Rohit’s 32nd triple-digit score in the 50-over format of the game, and it helped India chase down the target of 305 runs in 44.3 overs for the loss of six wickets.

The century on Sunday was a special one for Rohit as it not only helped him silence his critics, who raised a lot of question marks over his future in international cricket, but also helped him break Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most centuries in international cricket for India after turning 30.

Tendulkar, who finished his 24-year-long international career with 100 centuries, crossed the triple-figure mark 35 times after turning 30, whereas Rohit has 36 centuries to his name in international cricket after celebrating his 30th birthday.
