The Indian team bus reportedly waited for Yashasavi Jaiswal but after the youngster caused delay, it left for the airport without him.
Yashasvi Jaiswal left his India captain Rohit Sharma frustrated after reportedly causing a delay in the team bus departure for the airport on Wednesday morning. The Indian team touring party including captain Rohit and coach Gautam Gambhir waited for Jaiswal for some time before instructing the bus to leave without the young batter.
As per a report in India Today, Indian team’s flight from Adelaide to Brisbane was to take off at 10 AM local time. The team was scheduled to leave their hotel – The Intercontinental – at 8:30 AM in two buses. Everyone barring Jaiswal boarded the buses on time.
The team waited for the 22-year-old for about 20 minutes with Rohit stepping out of the vehicle and enquired with the support staff about Jaiswal’s whereabouts. The team manager and security officer were also pressed into action and the bus left for the airport leaving Jaiswal behind after some time.
Jaiswal eventually arrived at the hotel lobby before realising the bus had already left. The rising star was then taken to the airport in a separate vehicle in company of a senior security official.
Jaiswal, who is otherwise known for his punctuality, is expected to be penalised for his tardiness. However, the reason behind the delay is unknown.
India and Australia are slated to square off in the third Test of their ongoing five-match series in Brisbane from Saturday. Australia have pulled themselves on level terms with a 10-wicket win in Adelaide.
Jaiswal, who scored a brilliant century in the series opener which India won by 295 runs, was dismissed cheaply in both the innings of the day-night Test. The defeat has left India with a big challenge in their bid to qualify for the final of the ICC World Test Championship.
The likes of Rohit and Virat Kohli have been under scrutiny for their inconsistency and the team will be hoping for their two senior batters to be back among the runs as they aim to regain lead.
