Rohit Sharma’s PC Concludes
End of Rohit Sharma’s press conference. The India Test captain said the team is disappointed with the result but is confident of team bouncing back in Sydney.
Rohit Sharma On Dropping Shubman Gill
I had a chat with him (Shubman Gill). It was clearly about him not being dropped. We just wanted an extra bit of cushion in bowling hence we opted for an allrounder. Compromising a bowler for a batter was something we didn’t want. Wanted a bowling attack that can take 20 wickets. With him, there was never a doubt that he’s not batting well or scoring runs. So to have that combination (balance), we included an allrounder.
Rohit Sharma On Team’s Mindset On Chasing 340
There’s no way we weren’t thinking of the target but for that you need to lay the foundation. We have done that in the past. Unfortunately, when Rishabh Pant fell, we know it’s going to be tough (chasing). You’ve to be realistic sometimes. The wicket was slowing down fair bit, a day five pitch. When we had 7 wickets, we were positive – not thinking too far ahead though. Australia bowled very good spells. Losing wickets upfront hurt us.
Rohit On Siraj And Akash Deep’s Performances
Akash and Siraj are frontline bowlers. It’s unfortunate that they haven’t taken as many wickets. Siraj has bowled his heart out. The wicket column doesn’t show how well he has bowled. Aakash too. These are the three frontline seamers. Whoever plays, has to get the job done.
Rohit Sharma on Nitish Reddy’s Performance in Melbourne
We saw a lot of potential. He’s shown what he is capable of, read the situation pretty well. Has a solid technique and superb mind. Has a strong character. Hard to say about his growth because there have been just four matches. He will only go up from here because he has all the tools to be very successful.
Rohit Sharma On Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Controversial Dismissal
Don’t know what to make of it. With the naked eye it looked the ball did touch something. In all fairness, he did touch the ball. The technology is not 100 per cent but we cannot look at it too much. We have been at the receiving end of it, we’ve been a little unfortunate.
Rohit Sharma On Jasprit Bumrah’s Workload
Yeah, we’ve been very careful. I have talked to him about how he feels. Those things needs to be managed carefully. I am doing that on the field
Rohit Sharma PC Live Updates: Rohit On Pant’s Dismissal
Everyone is disappointed about the result. He needs to understand what is required of himself rather than anyone telling him. In the past, he has given us a lot of success. As a captain, there’s a mixed reaction. We back when it comes off but when it doesn’t, is frustrating. There has to be a balance. As a captain it’s very hard to have conversation when it’s given him a lot of success. It’s just about the situation. If there’s risk-percentage, do you want to take risk? I know Rishabh for a long time and I understand his cricket. There have been conversations in the past. It’s not that he doesn’t understand what the team needs him. There’s a fine line between telling him what to do and what not do.
Rohit Sharma PC Live Updates: ‘Never Easy To Play Here’
Make sure when it turn up at Sydney, try and move that momentum towards us. It’s never easy to play here (Australia). There are times we ourselves are disappointed, but we have done things right too.
Rohit Sharma PC Live Updates: ‘I Am Disappointed’
Lot of the things that I am trying to do aren’t coming off as a batter. Mentally it’s a challenge. It’s a big disappointment. As of now, that is where it is. There are things we need to look at as a team, I also need to look at personally. There’s still a game to go. If we play well, it will be 2-all. A draw will be really nice (result).
