Rohit Sharma’s practice sessions in Mumbai have fueled speculation about his participation in the Ranji Trophy.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma was spotted doing a running session at the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai on Wednesday. A local recorded the video of this session and uploaded it on social media, which has now gone viral.
He was apparently accompanied by a personal trainer, who was seen in a chat before Rohit went on a short sprint in the park. This comes only a few hours after he practiced with the Mumbai Ranji Trophy team at the Wankhede Stadium.

Rohit’s practice sessions in Mumbai have fanned speculations about whether he’d be participating in the upcoming matches of the 2025 Ranji Trophy after suffering a big dip in his Test form. However, he’s yet to be named in the team.
His overall international future is under a huge cloud, too. There were reports that he’d retire from Test cricket after the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy but he said he wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
His next assignment is the upcoming white-ball series at home against England. The T20Is — a format from which Rohit has retired — will run from January 22 to February 2. Three ODIs will follow, beginning on February 6.

After the home series against England, India has to play in the 2025 Champions Trophy in the UAE and then travel to the UK for a five-Test series. Different pundits have given their opinions on what lies ahead for the skipper.
Speaking on the subject, Australian legend Adam Gilchrist said on the Club Prairie Fire podcast: “I don’t see Rohit going to England. I just felt that he says he will assess it when he gets home. I mean, the first thing he will be met with when he gets home is a two-month-old baby that he has to change the nappies on. Now that might incentivise him to go to England. But I don’t see him pressing on.”
“I think he’ll probably have a crack at the Champions Trophy and that might be…that might see him out,” he added.
