India topped Pool A in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025 with their resounding win over New Zealand to set up a semifinal encounter against Pool B runners-up Australia in an enticing encounter at the ICC event in the United Arab Emirates.
Ahead of the blockbuster fixture, team India skipper Rohit Sharma opined that he has been handed a good headache by spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who picked up a fifer in the game against the Kiwis to lead the men in blue to a 44-run win.
Rohit said that the team’s think tank will look at ways to incorporate the spin strength available in the unit following Chakravarthy’s statement performance.
“We really need to think, even if we want to play four spinners, how we can squeeze four spinners in,” Rohit said.
“The reason I say it is because we are very much aware of the conditions here and we know exactly what works and what doesn’t work,” the 37-year-old added.
“So, we will think about it, about what is the right combination to go with, but it is tempting,” he said, crediting the system, which could witness India feature four spinners.

Chakravarthy was responsible for the scalps of Will Young, Glenn Phillips, Micahel Bracewell, Mitchell Santner and Matt Henry to register a five-wicket haul and drive home his second coming with the men in blue after having to endure a nightmare start to life in the famous blue kit back in the year 2021.
“He just showed what he is capable of. Now, it is up to us to think and see how we can get that combination right,” the skipper said.
“He got a game, and he did everything that was asked for,” Rohit added.
“He has got something different about him, and when he gets it right, he knocks people over and he takes 5,” the Indian captain stated.
“So, it is very tempting to think about what to do, which is a good headache to have. We will also assess the Australian batting lineup to see what kind of bowling options will work against them,” he concluded.
