Indian captain Rohit Sharma and legendary batter Virat Kohli landed in Nagpur on Sunday, February 2. The Indian men’s cricket team is all set to face England in a three-match ODI series. The series opener is scheduled to take place at Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium in Nagpur on Thursday, February 6. The three ODIs against the 2019 World Cup winners will help India prepare well for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is set to be played from February 19 to March 9 in three venues across Pakistan and one in Dubai.
Rohit and Virat, who retired from T20Is on June 29, 2024, after India’s win in the final of T20 World Cup 2024, were seen checking out of the Nagpur airport on Sunday evening. Rohit landed in Nagpur after attending the BCCI Naman awards in Mumbai on Saturday, whereas Kohli arrived from Delhi. The former India captain was in Delhi from Monday to Saturday last week and played in Delhi’s Ranji Trophy Elite Group D match against Railways at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

There were high expectations for Kohli in his first Ranji Trophy match for Delhi after more than 12 years, but the 36-year-old right-handed batter could only manage to score 6 runs from 15 balls in the first innings.
Kohli will look to come up with a big show in the home series against the English team. His form will be crucial for India’s chances of winning the ICC Champions Trophy title for the third time in history. In the ICC Champions Trophy India will play all its matches in Dubai.
Only six players—Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Mohammed Shami, Washington Sundar, Harshit Rana, and Arshdeep Singh—from India’s T20I team will feature in the ODI series against England; the second and third matches of which are scheduled to take place in Cuttack and Ahmedabad on February 9 and 12, respectively.
India defeated England by 100 runs in the last 50-over match played between the two teams at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on October 29, 2023. In the 2023 ODI World Cup league stage match, Rohit Sharma top-scored for the Men in Blue.
