Donovan Ferreira’s stunning catch in the SA20 2025 match between Joburg Super Kings and Sunrisers Eastern Cape has gone viral.

Joburg Super Kings (JSK) star Donovan Ferreira stole the limelight with a brilliant catch during the 22nd fixture of the SA20 2025.
Reigning champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape (SEC) were batting first at Wanderers Stadium on January 26. The genius fielding moment occurred during Hardus Viljoen’s spell in the 19th over of the opening innings.
SEC batter Beyers Swanepoel chopped the ball hard towards deep extra cover. An ever-alert Ferreira chased after it, running alongside the boundary ropes. He found the perfect timing to raise his right arm and catch the ball in a flash to send Swanepoel packing for a golden duck.
JioCinema’s official account has now shared a video of the breathtaking catch on X (formerly Twitter). “Don didn’t hesitate. A fantastic catch from Donovan Ferreira that left us all,” the post read.
The wicket was Hardus Viljoen’s second in the over. He scalped a third on the final ball, dismissing Ottniel Baartman to curb the Sunrisers Eastern Cape at 118 runs.
New Zealand batter Devon Conway led Joburg Super King’s chase in the second innings with an unbeaten 76. He smashed 11 boundaries and three sixes to help the Faf du Plessis-led side secure a dominant nine-wicket win.
It isn’t the first time Ferreira has grabbed the headlines for his brilliant fielding. He took a similar catch against the Pretoria Capitals at the Wanderers Stadium only a week ago, on January 16.
Coincidentally, Viljoen was also on bowling duty when the catch happened. Pretoria’s Senuran Muthusamy had smashed a ball hard towards long-on in the final over of the first innings.
He, however, failed to get enough elevation on the shot. Ferreira was lurking at mid-on when he eyed the ball and pulled off a well-timed jump before plucking the ball out of mid-air.
SA20’s official X account shared the video online and wrote, “Joburg Super Kings + Spectacular One-handed catches = same WhatsApp group.”
The victory on Sunday has now put the Joburg Super Kings in fourth place on the league table. They currently boast 15 points from seven matches with three wins, three losses, and one draw.
JSK will lock horns with the Pretoria Capitals on January 28. The match will be at the SuperSport Park Cricket Stadium in Centurion.
