Royal Challengers Bengaluru maintained their perfect away record this IPL after beating Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur. RCB chased down the target of 174 with ease thanks to half-centuries from their opening batters Phil Salt and Virat Kohli.
Salt scored 65 off 33 while Kohli remained unbeaten on 62 off 45. Devdutt Padikkal also made a significant contribution with 40 not out as the visitors secured a big nine-wicket win at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
The spirits in RCB dressing room are expectedly high and their new signing Tim David decided to prank batting superstar Kohli by stealing one of his seven bats.
In a clip shared by RCB on their social media channels, David can be seen explaining the prank.
“I want to see how long it will take Virat to realise we have taken one of his bats,” David says.
Later, Kohli realises he’s missing one of his bats and asks, “I counted my bats yesterday; it was seven. It’s six now.”
He eventually found out it was in David’s kitbag.
After inspecting it was indeed his bat, Kohli was left with a wide smile.
“Virat was batting so nicely that we thought we’ll see how long it takes him to realise that one of his bat is missing. He didn’t. He was too happy with himself. So, I did give it back to him. He thought I was trying to steal it but I wasn’t,” David said.
Kohli has made a solid start to his IPL season having scored 248 runs from six innings at a strike-rate of 143.35. He has three half-centuries to his name and is averaging 62.
RCB have so far won four of their six matches in IPL 2025 and currently are third in the standings. They have played two matches at home and lost both – against Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals.
RCB next face Punjab Kings in Bengaluru.
