Upon his visit to the Western Naval Command, Tendulkar was warmly welcomed by the navy officers. He was felicitated with a “BRAHMOS” badge.
“My heartfelt gratitude to the Indian Navy for your service to the nation. I will always cherish this day. Jai Hind,” read an earlier post from Tendulkar on the Navy Day (December 4).
Tendulkar is one of the few cricketers who hold an honorary rank in the armed forces. The Master Blaster joined the Indian Air Force as a group captain back in 2010. He became the first person without an aviation background to receive this honour.
Tendulkar holds several monumental records that may remain unbroken for the time being. He is the only batter to score 100 centuries in international cricket.
He’s international cricket’s most prolific run-getter.
Before taking retirement in 2013, Tendulkar played 463 ODIs, 200 Tests and one T20I to accumulate 34,357 runs across formats.
