Tendulkar shared Rohit Sharma’s Insta post on his story and wished him on the arrival of the newest member of the family.
Legendary Sachin Tendulkar has extended his warm wishes to Rohit Sharma on becoming a father again. The Indian captain and his wife, Ritika Sajdeh, were blessed with a baby boy on November 15. Rohit took to social media a day later, confirming the news by sharing a heartwarming picture on Instagram.
On Sunday, Tendulkar shared Rohit Sharma’s Insta post on his story and wished him on the arrival of the newest member of the family.
“Double the joy, double the love! Many congratulations and wishing the family all the happiness in the world. Much love to the little one,” Tendulkar wrote in his story.
Earlier, India T20I stars Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma extended their warm wishes to Rohit on the addition of a new member to his family.
“Really very happy for you Rohit bhai. We were waiting for this moment and had it been 1-2 days later I would have joined you there. I’m coming soon,” Tilak said after Suryakumar broke the news during a light-hearted interview posted on BCCI’s website.
After becoming a father, Rohit has decided to be with his family and skip the first Australia Test in Perth. The Indian captain is expected to be ready for the second Test at Adelaide Oval, starting December 6.
“Yes, Rohit Sharma will not be featuring in the first Test. He wants to spend some more time with his family and the new-born and the Indian cricket board completely respects his decision,” an official close to developments was quoted as saying by TOI.
There were doubts about Rohit’s participation in the first Test although head coach Rahul Dravid was quite hopeful that the captain might just be available.
The Indian team currently needs its skipper and opening batter as the top order is looking very brittle.
While Rohit hasn’t exactly been in the best of form, he would still be a better choice than Abhimanyu Easwaran, who has looked out of depth against bounce and seam movement, while KL Rahul has sustained an elbow injury which is, though, believed to be not very serious.
