The Indian cricket team continued their winning run in the Champions Trophy 2025 on Sunday (February 23) and secured a big win by 6 wickets over arch-rivals Pakistan. In the match played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, India chased down the target of 241 runs in 42.3 overs for the loss of just four wickets. Virat Kohli top-scored for the Rohit Sharma-led side by remaining unbeaten on 100 runs from 111 balls.

The outcome of the match against India, quite understandably, disappointed Pakistan fans. Former Pakistan cricketers also appeared to be dejected with the loss. Ex-Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik echoed a similar sentiment as he expressed his feelings by singing a song.

In a video shared by legendary Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar on X (formerly Twitter), Malik was singing Dil Ke Arman Ansuon Men Bah Gaye from the movie Nikaah. The video starts with Akhtar asking Malik, “Aaj ke match ke baarein me kya kehenge (What do you want to say about today’s match)?”

In response, Malik came up with the song. Malik’s selection of the song triggered a smile, albeit in a remorseful manner, on another former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Hafeez’s face. “Today’s state of affairs explained by Shoaib Malik,” read the post shared by Shoaib Akhtar on X.

Following Pakistan’s defeat at the hands of arch-rivals India, Akhtar seemed emotional and heartbroken.

“I would not even talk about Pakistan cricket if I was not getting paid. Honestly, I have nothing to do with them anymore. I was requested to come here (on the show), and so I came. I am telling you honestly and live on TV. I have no agenda to talk ill about them (players); why should I waste my time?” Akhtar said in a video that has gone viral on social media.

“I have been doing TV (interviews and panel discussions) since 2011. Trust me, I have said it all,” he added.

In the must-win Champions Trophy match against India, Pakistan skipper Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and opted to bat first. But the move did not pay off as Pakistan could manage to post 241 runs. Saud Shakeel scored 62 runs from 76 balls for the defending champions, whereas Rizwan scored 46 from 77 balls.
