Here’s a look at the Punjab Kings’ strongest playing XI for the upcoming 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League.
After retaining only two uncapped Indian players from the IPL 2024 squad for Rs 9.50 crore, the Punjab Kings entered the IPL 2025 mega auction with a purse of Rs 110.50 crore, and they made some marquee signings in a bid to make a strong side that can go all the way and end the long wait for the maiden IPL title. Three of the five most expensive players in the IPL 2025 mega auction were signed by PBKS.
Here’s a look at PBKS’ strongest playing XI for IPL 2025:
Josh Inglis (WK): Australian wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis will play in the IPL for the first time in his career next year. He was signed for Rs 2.60 crore by the Mohali-based franchise.
Prabhsimran Singh: PBKS retained Prabhsimran Singh for Rs 4 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction after he scored 358 and 334 runs in the last two editions of the cash-rich league for the team.
Shreyas Iyer (C): Punjab Kings signed IPL 2024 winning team captain Shreyas Iyer for Rs 26.75 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. He is expected to lead the franchise next year. Iyer is a very good middle-order batter who has scored 3127 runs in 116 IPL matches played so far.
Glenn Maxwell: Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell will play for PBKS in IPL 2025 after he was signed for Rs 4.20 crore. This will be his third stint with the Mohali-based franchise. The 36-year-old cricketer has 2771 runs and 37 wickets to his name in 134 IPL matches played so far.
Marcus Stoinis: Stoinis will play for PBKS once again in IPL. The 35-year-old Australian all-rounder after being released by LSG was signed for Rs 11 crore by the Mohali-based franchise. Stoinis is a very good addition to the PBKS team, as apart from his batting, he can win matches with the ball in his hand as well.
Shashank Singh: PBKS retained uncapped Indian batter Shashank Singh for Rs 5 crore after he impressed with his performances with the bat in the 2024 edition of the cash-rich league. The 33-year-old right-handed batter scored 354 runs in IPL 2024, and the new team management will expect him to maintain his good show next year as well.
Nehal Wadhera: Wadhera was associated with MI in IPL 2023 and 2024 and impressed with his performance with the bat in the last two years. He is an attacking middle-order batter who can win matches single-handedly, and that’s why he was signed for Rs 4.20 crore.
Marco Jansen: South African pacer Marco Jansen will play for PBKS in IPL 2025. The 24-year-old cricketer was signed for Rs 7 crore by the Mohali-based franchise. Jansen has played 21 matches in the IPL so far for two teams and has picked up 20 wickets in 21 matches.
Arshdeep Singh: The Punjab Kings used RTM to sign back left-arm Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh for Rs 18 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Arshdeep, who is India’s second-most successful bowler in T20Is, has 76 wickets to his name in 65 IPL matches played so far.
Yuzvendra Chahal: PBKS signed Yuzvendra Chahal for Rs 18 crore. The 34-year-old spinner is the most successful bowler in IPL history. In 160 matches played so far in the cash-rich league, he has 205 wickets to his name.
Vijaykumar Vyshak: Uncapped Indian pacer Vijaykumar Vyshak has 42 wickets to his name in 32 T20 matches played so far. The 27-year-old right-arm medium pacer was signed for Rs 1.80 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction by the Preity Zinta-owned side. He has previously played for RCB in the cash-rich league and picked up 13 wickets in 11 matches.
