Shubman Gill came out to bat at No. 3 for India in the second inning of the ongoing third Test against New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai but failed to score big runs. He was sent back to the pavilion for 1 run from four balls. New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel produced a super delivery to shatter Gill’s stumps. The 25-year-old right-handed batter left the ball, but it turned and led to Gill’s dismissal.
Gill, who top-scored for India in the first inning by making 90 runs, couldn’t believe his eyes, and his stunned reaction after getting out is now going viral on the internet.
After Gill’s dismissal, Virat Kohli arrived at the crease for India in the 148-run chase, but he also failed to make any significant contribution and was sent back to the dugout by Ajaz for 1 run from seven balls.
Kohli, who has been horribly out of form in 2024, was caught by Daryl Mitchell in the slip, and at the time of his dismissal, India was reeling at 18 for 3 in 5.3 overs.
Before Gill and Kohli’s dismissal, India lost captain Rohit Sharma for 11 runs from as many balls. He was caught by Glenn Phillips of Matt Henry’s bowling.
