The third season of the league will continue to feature eight franchises.

Siddhesh Lad was appointed captain of Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals on Monday for the third edition of the T20 Mumbai League. The franchise also announced replacements for Tushar Deshpande and Armaan Jaffer.

Deshpande, one of the icon players, will miss the competition as he has been selected for the India A squad for the tour of England.

Armaan Jaffer, aged 26, will also not participate in the league as he has requested to be released by the Mumbai Cricket Association to play for Pondicherry. His request has been approved, confirmed an MCA official to PTI.

Rohan Raje and Saksham Parashar have been named as their replacements.

Lad made a successful return to the Mumbai team last year in the Ranji Trophy after taking a cooling-off period following his representation of Goa in the 2022-23 season.

“He is someone who reads the game well, absorbs pressure, and leads by example. He has played in every format, adapted to every role, and always delivered,” said team mentor and former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar in a statement.
