Former cricketer Sourav Ganguly narrowly escaped unhurt after his vehicle was involved in an accident while he was travelling to Bardhaman for an event. The accident occurred on the Durgapur Expressway at Dantanpur.
Ganguly was in his Range Rover, which was moving at normal speed, when it was suddenly hit by a truck from behind. Ganguly’s driver braked suddenly to manage the situation, causing the vehicles following in his convoy to collide with each other.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, though two vehicles in Ganguly’s convoy were damaged. The former India cricket team captain had to wait for 10 minutes before continuing his journey to the University of Burdwan for the scheduled event.
At the university, Ganguly interacted with students and dignitaries, discussing the future of Indian cricket. He also shared anecdotes from his celebrated career.
In January, Sourav Ganguly’s daughter, Sana, narrowly escaped injury when her car was hit by a bus in Kolkata’s Behala area. The accident happened when the bus, travelling from Kolkata to Raichak, rammed into Sana’s car near the Behala intersection on Diamond Harbour Road.
Ganguly was appointed Director of Cricket for JSW Sports in October last year. His role encompasses all of its cricketing properties, including the Delhi teams in the IPL and WPL, along with the Pretoria Capitals franchise in SA20.
