The Sunrisers Hyderabad have finalised their retentions ahead of the 2025 Indian Premier League auction. The likes of Heinrich Klaasen, Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma and Nitish Reddy will continue with the franchise as their five retentions.
According to a report by ESPNCricinfo, the franchise will keep Klaasen as their first-choice retention at INR 23 crores, the skipper Cummins at INR 18 crores, the opening batting duo of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head at INR 14 crores respectively and finally Nitish Reddy at INR 6 crores respectively.
With the deadline set for October 31, franchises are allowed to retain a total of six players of which a maximum of five players can be capped players or a maximum of two uncapped players.
Interestingly, SRH have decided to give Klaasen a pay rise which exceeds the first-retention slab set at INR 18 crores, which comes as a surprise. Cummins will be SRH’s second-choice retention but he will also receive a pay rise at 18 crores INR as well.
The pair of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head wreaked havoc with their monstrous hitting abilities in IPL 2024. The pair will continue their stint with the franchise as both men have been retained at INR 14 crores as well.
Another point to note is that the young all-rounder, Nitish Reddy will be retained by the franchise at just INR 6 crores which is 8 crores short on the fifth retention slab set at INR 14 crores as well. This would mean that the side would pay an extra eight crores, deducted from their total purse amount as well. Reddy won the Emerging Player of the Year in 2024 after hitting 303 and also taking three wickets.
Reddy has made his T20I debut during the Bangladesh series and has also been picked for the upcoming Test tour to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar series. He is currently part of the India A squad that are set to play two four-day games from October 31st as well.
The franchise will also have one right-to-match card as well which they will hope to make use of in the upcoming auction set to take place on December, 2024.
