Yash Dayal shared the video clip of Dhoni’s dismissal on his Instagram story but had to face the wrath of angry fans.
Yash Dayal had his moment when he dismissed the legendary MS Dhoni in the last league stage game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 in Bengaluru. The playoff berth was at stake with Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore locking horns in a do-or-die clash. Dayal was tasked to defend 17 runs off his final over with two of the most clinical finishers in IPL history – MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja – in the middle. Dhoni welcomed the left-arm quick with a gigantic six, sending the ball onto the top of the Chinnaswamy roof.
As a new ball came into play, Dayal bowled a back-of-the-hand slower one. Dhoni tried whacking him again but holed out to Swapnil Singh near the boundary rope. Dayal conceded just seven runs in the final over, knocking CSK out of the contest.
Months later, Dayal shared the video clip of Dhoni’s dismissal on his Instagram story but had to face the wrath of angry fans. The video further showed how Zaheer Khan had once dismissed Dhoni in a similar fashion. It also led to speculation that Dayal was probably comparing himself with the Indian pace great. Hence, the fans had another reason to troll him.
Here’s how the fans reacted:
It’s been 5 months since Dhoni single-handedly gave Yash Dayal a career just because of new ball change and caught on near boundary and he got retained instead of siraj talk about aura https://t.co/3tkg7TTOag— ` (@santhoxsh) December 2, 2024
Dayal recently opened up on the dismissal and said he felt bad about it.
“I felt bad after dismissing him. Because I don’t know or care what people say but the frustration with which he left the ground, it was like you don’t know whether he will return or not. Will we ever see him again on the ground? It was a moment where a lot of things were going through my head. I got a breather, a bit of relief,” Dayal told Jatin Sapru on his YouTube channel.
