Though Rohit is yet to make an official announcement, his teammates have extended their best wishes and congraluted the Indian captain.
Team India stars Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson congratulated former T20I skipper Rohit Sharma on becoming a father again. On Friday night, several media reports claimed that the Indian captain and his wife, Ritika, were blessed with a baby boy. Though Rohit is yet to confirm the development, his teammates have extended their best wishes.
In a conversation on BCCI.tv, the trio spoke about the newest member arriving in the Sharma family. Tilak Varma congratulated Rohit, stating that he would soon come and meet the family on his arrival in India. Echoing similar emotions, Sanju Samson said he was super happy for Rohit and his family.
“Really very happy, Rohit Bhai. We’ve been waiting for this moment. Had it been late, I would have been there with you. But, I’m coming soon to meet you and meet the little one,” Tilak said.
Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav said a new cricketer has arrived for whom he needs to get small-sized pads and gloves.
The trio came together to reflect on India’s commanding victory over South Africa at Wanderers on Friday. Varma and Sanju lit up the stadium with a phenomenal 210-run stand, both registering centuries.
Varma delivered an unbeaten 120, becoming only the fifth player to score consecutive T20I hundreds. Sanju Samson complemented him with an unbeaten 109, his third T20I century in five matches. Together, they powered India to a staggering 283/1, laying the foundation for a 135-run triumph and securing a 3-1 series win.
These monumental innings from Samson and Varma capped off a remarkable year for India in T20Is, where they secured 24 wins in 26 matches and lifted the T20 World Cup in June. Post-silverware, India has demonstrated its dominance with an ultra-aggressive, power-hitting approach, signalling its intent for the future of the format.
India’s next T20I challenge will be a five-match series against England at home in January 2025.
