A total of 14 cricketers, 11 from the men’s team, 3 from the women’s team have been included in NADA’s registered testing pool for 2025.
The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) has added several senior stars from India’s men’s and women’s team to its programme as part of its Registered Testing Pool (RTP) for 2025.
In the men’s team the Indian T20I skipper, Suryakumar Yadav along with players from across all three formats like Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma have all been included in the roster.
From the women’s team, three members have been included to make it a total of 14 cricketers who are part of the testing pool. Shafali Verma, Renuka Singh Thakur, and Deepti Sharma are those from the women’s team who have been included.
The athletes that are part of the testing pool would have to disclose information regarding their whereabouts to NADA through which an effective manner of sample collection can be conducted when out of competition. This includes the athlete’s residential address, email address, phone number, and address for their overnight accommodation. The players would also have to allot 1 hour of their time for tests and failure to complete the due tests.
In addition, missing out on either missed tests or filing failures amounting to three instances in any combination would result in an anti-doping rule violation.
Earlier in 2020, the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Cheteshwar Pujara, Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma had been part of the RTP and had been issued whereabouts notices by NADA.
As mentioned in an earlier report by the Press Trust of India, the NADA director had revealed that the BCCI cited the reasons behind the violation as a ‘password glitch’ with regard to their software.
All the Indian cricketers that have been added to the RTP are international stars in their own right. Suryakumar along with Arshdeep Singh, Hardik Pandya, Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma are with the national team for their upcoming assignment, a five-match T20I series against England which begins on January 22nd in Kolkata, which serves as their preparations along with the ODIs that follows for the Champions Trophy 2025 in the United Arab Emirates.
