Shubman Gill, ahead of the marquee clash between India vs Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 feels that anything over 300 runs will be a good enough target with the lack of dew present in Dubai.

Speaking ahead of the iconic battle between two rival nations, Gill reckons that the side batting second will have to deal with more pressure considering the lack of dew that is present on the ground. He also suggested that the toss would not play a big factor in the match as well.

“In the last match, dew was not there. When dew is not there, it is not that easy to bat (under lights) and it is not that easy to rotate the strike as well. Whoever does well in middle overs has a better chance of winning. With lack of dew, toss also doesn’t play a big role,” Gill commented at a press conference ahead of India’s second game in the ICC tournament.

“But, for any team – in any big match, if we don’t get dew then the team that is batting later will have more pressure,” he added.

Regarding a good total, Gill feels that anything ranging from 280-300 or more would be ideal for the Men in Blue. In the previous game against Bangladesh, the opening batter starred with a watchful century which helped India chase down 229 comfortably without many hiccups.

“Definitely we want to play aggressive and positive cricket but that also depends on the surface. The score would be different on every wicket that we play. So 300 on this wicket or 280 would be a very good score for us,” he said.

But Gill highlighted that the side has not set any totals in their mind and it all depends on what the conditions dictate on match day.

“But if the wicket plays any differently, we might get 350 or 360. So, we don’t have any particular target set in our mind,” said Gill who made a match-winning unbeaten 101 against Bangladesh in India’s opening game,” he concluded.

Gill will be expected to continue his rich vein of form in the coming game against Pakistan. The Indian team already have a win under their belt and beating Pakistan would secure their spot in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Pakistan will look to redeem themselves with an improved performance to ensure that they stay in the hunt for a spot in the knockouts after a crushing defeat to New Zealand on home soil.
