India all-rounder Tilak Varma’s recent photograph with Telugu film superstar Vijay Deverakonda has elated several fans on social media. Tilak will represent India in the upcoming white ball series against England. The young all-rounder was selected in the official squad for the five-match T20I series that begins on January 22. Nearly a week before the bilateral tour, Tilak bumped into Deverakonda on a flight. Sharing a photograph of the sudden meet-up on his now-expired Instagram story, the 22-year-old wrote, “Surprised to bump into you on the flight, great meeting you Anna Vijay Deverakonda, see you soon.” read his Instagram story.
Both Tilak Varma and Vijay Deverakonda were grinning wide in the now-viral photograph. Tilak was rocking a dark quilted jacket with a white t-shirt inside. Deverakonda, on the other hand, was rolling with a beanie and a dark-brown shirt. The Telugu actor was gripping a cushion as he posed for the selfie with the young cricket star.
Tilak Varma has been in terrific form in an India shirt. He showcased his firepower in India’s last outing against South Africa. In that away tour, the 22-year-old became the second batter after Sanju Samson to score a century in consecutive T20I matches. He led the batting charts with 280 runs across four matches with a staggering average of 140.00 and a strike rate of 198.58. Tilak’s spoils helped India win the four-match series 3-1. His impactful individual displays also saw him win the Player of the Series award.
After scoring the two centuries in South Africa, Tilak Varma was interviewed by his captain Suryakumar Yadav in a press conference about what he was feeling. The young all-rounder humbly thanked his captain and the team in front of the reporters. “Nothing to say right now, presently there’s a lot of emotion inside me,” he said, as per Hindustan Times. “Really, thanks for the opportunity, that’s what I can say to the team. It feels very nice to be here. Never thought I’ll score back-to-back hundreds, especially in a T20, especially against a challenging South Africa side.” Tilak concluded.
Tilak Varma will once again look to deliver some star performances in the upcoming T20I series against England. As for Vijay Deverakonda, the South-Indian star was last seen on the big screen in a guest appearance. He was featured in Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2829 AD. The film starred Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani.
