For young India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal, 2024 was certainly a memorable one. The opening batter (1478 runs in 15 Tests) is this year’s second-highest run scorer in men’s Tests. In women’s Tests, the record for highest Test runs this year is held by South Africa’s Sune Luus (262 runs in three Tests).

Yashasvi Jaiswal, India: Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was the second-highest Test run-scorer this year. The young Indian opening batter scored 1478 runs in 15 Tests in 2024.
Ben Duckett, England: Ben Duckett comes next with 1149 Test runs to his name this year.
Harry Brook, England: Duckett’s teammate Harry Brook claims the fifth position on this list. Brook is 49 runs behind Duckett.
Kamindu Mendis, Sri Lanka: Sri Lanka’s Kamindu Mendis was the fifth-highest Test run scorer of 2024. He hit 1049 runs in nine Tests this year.
Kane Williamson, New Zealand: New Zealand’s Kane Williamson is next. The Kiwi star earned 1013 Test runs under his belt.
Ollie Pope, England: England’s Ollie Pope was at number seven. Pope bagged 994 runs in Test cricket in 2024.
Rachin Ravindra, New Zealand: New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra occupies the eighth spot and he is 10 runs behind Ollie Pope on this list.
Shubman Gill, India: India’s Shubman Gill is next having scored 866 runs in 12 Tests in 2024.
Dinesh Chandimal, Sri Lanka: Sri Lanka’s Dinesh Chandimal rounds off the top-10 list having earned 724 Test runs this year.

Sune Luus, South Africa: South Africa’s Sune Luus was the highest run-scorer of this year in women’s Tests. She scored 262 runs in three Tests at an average of 43.66 in 2024.
Shafali Verma, India: India’s Shafali Verma is next. Verma scored 229 runs in Test cricket this year.
Laura Wolvaardt, South Africa: South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt claims the third spot on this list having hit 223 runs in three Tests in 2024.
Annabel Sutherland, Australia: Australia’s Annabel Sutherland comes next at the fourth position. Sutherland bagged 210 Test runs this year.
Marizanne Kapp, South Africa: South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp claims the fifth spot having scored 183 runs in Test cricket in 2024.
Nat Sciver-Brunt, England: England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt scored 165 runs in Test cricket over the year.
Smriti Mandhana, India: With 149 Test runs to her name, India’s Smriti Mandhana occupies the seventh position.
Maia Bouchier, England: England’s Maia Bouchier is at number eight with 126 Test runs.
Heather Knight, England: Another England cricketer Heather Knight (110) comes next at number nine.
