The Australian men’s cricket team would like to end India’s winning run of six ODI matches on Tuesday (March 4) and book a place in the final of the Champions Trophy 2025. Australia broke millions of hearts on November 19, 2023, by securing a six-wicket win over India in the ODI World Cup 2023 final played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, and once again, despite missing the likes of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Marsh, and Marcus Stoinis, among others, the Australian team would like to repeat the same show in Dubai, where the Indian team has been stationed for the last two weeks.

For the big match against India, Australian team management and fans once again will have high expectations from Travis Head, who time and again has done well against India in big matches across formats. He has a century against the Rohit Sharma-led side in the World Test Championship final and ODI World Cup final, and he would like to complete the hat trick on Tuesday by hammering his maiden century in the Champions Trophy.

In addition to him, Australia will have high hopes from Josh Inglis and Glenn Maxwell, who are also more than capable of winning matches single-handedly.

Ahead of the Tuesday’s match in Dubai, which promises to be a nail-biting contest, here’s a look at how Australia’s Champions Trophy 2025 stars have performed against India in ODIs:

Travis Head: Travis Head has played nine ODIs for Australia against India so far, and with the help of one century and one fifty, he has 345 runs to his name. In his last 50-over match against Men in Blue, Head hammered 137 runs to win the ODI World Cup final for Pat Cummins & Co., and on Tuesday he would like to repeat the same show.

Steve Smith: Smith loves playing India. He holds the record for scoring the most centuries against Men in Blue in international cricket. In ODIs, Smith has 1310 runs to his name in 29 ODIs vs India. He has hammered five centuries and six fifties.

Alex Carey: In 20 ODIs against India, wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey has only managed to score 376 runs against Indian team. His batting average against Men in Blue in the 50-over format of the game is 28.92.

Marnus Labuschagne: Dependable middle-order batter Marnus Labuschagne has amassed a total of 445 runs in 14 matches against Men in Blue. In the ODI World Cup 2023 final, Indian bowlers failed to dismiss him, and he remained unbeaten on 58 runs from 110 balls.

Sean Abbott: In six India-Australia ODI matches, Abbott has scored 86 runs for the Men in Yellow in addition to taking up seven wickets.

Glenn Maxwell: Star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell will be a key player for Australia in the semifinal with both bat and ball. In the last 12 years, Maxwell has played 32 ODIs against India and, with the help of six fifties, has 943 runs to his name. In addition to his batting, Maxwell has picked up nine wickets against India.

Nathan Ellis: Ellis played one ODI against India in Visakhapatnam on March 19, 2023, and in that he was able to dismiss two Indian batters for just 13 runs in five overs. In the absence of Cummins, Starc, and Hazlewood, he will lead the pace attack for the six-time ODI World Cup winners.

Spencer Johnson: Left-arm pacer Spencer Johnson has also played one ODI against India in 2023, but he was not able to take any wickets despite bowling eight overs in which he conceded 61 runs.

Tanveer Sangha: Sangha played one ODI against India in 2023 and finished the match with figures of 1 for 61 in 10 overs. He could get a game for the Steve Smith-led side on Tuesday due to spin-friendly conditions in Dubai.

Adam Zampa: Leg spinner Adam Zampa has dismissed 35 Indian batters in 23 ODIs played so far. Zampa is the most experienced bowler in Australia’s Champions Trophy 2025 squad, and he will be keen to spoil India’s party on Tuesday.

Four Australian players – Jake Fraser-McGurk, Ben Dwarshuis, Aaron Hardie and Cooper Connolly – are yet to play an ODI match against India and there’s a high possibility that at least two of them will be part of the playing XI on Tuesday.
