Despite playing against the hosts down under, the Indian skipper was pleasantly surprised by the immense support that had come together duering the warm-up match and applauded their presence.
India skipper Rohit Sharma wished that both side could have gotten to play out the entiremathc but was pleased with their curtailed warm-up game time after defeating the Australian Prime Minister’s XI by six wickets at the Manuka Oval on Sunday.
The opening day of the two-day pink-ball match was washed out due to rain and the match was reduced to 46-over per side, with India opting to bowl first.
It was a walk in the park for India who were bolstered by a fine fifty from Shubman Gill as the visitors sealed a comfortable 6-wicket win over the PM XI, and batted till the end of the innings for some extra practice on Sunday.
“Yeah, it was fantastic. We got what we wanted as a group. But we were a little unlucky that we didn’t get the whole game. It was washed out the other day. But whatever time we got, we tried to make the most of it, and we got pretty much out of what we had in front of us,” Rohit, who missed the Perth Test due to the birth of his second child, stated after the warm-up match.

You know, there has never been a time where we’ve come here and, you know, the guys have not turned up for us. So it’s always nice to see people coming and supporting us. India,” Rohit added.
The second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy shall commence on December 6, as India will look to build on their strong start to their campaign down under.
