UP Warriorz will begin their Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 campaign against Gujarat Giants on Sunday, February 16. The fixture will be hosted at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. UP Warriorz failed to make the playoff last season, finishing in fourth place with three wins in eight matches. Having made new additions to their squad, they will push for the final in WPL 2025.
UP Warriorz made their presence felt at the 2025 WPL auction where they made three crucial buys to complete the 18-woman squad. The franchise reportedly spent Rs 11.6 crore for the overall team and Rs 50 lakh on auction purchases. Kranti Goud, Arushi Goel and Alana King are the three players UP Warriorz signed.
UP Warriorz will be heading into the new WPL season, having maintained the majority of their core players. They were able to retain their skipper Alyssa Healy, Deepti Sharma and Sophie Ecclestone. Despite failing to make the final in the previous two seasons, UP Warriorz have stuck to their original core as they once again push for glory in 2025. Their plans, however, suffered a massive blow before the T20 tournament began with Healy picking up a stress injury in her right foot. Since the Aussie star is sidelined, Deepti has been promoted to the captaincy role.
