Virat Kohli managed to score just one before being cleaned up by New Zealand spinner Mitchell Santner in Pune.
India are in the midst of another batting collapse in the ongoing three-match Test series against New Zealand. It was seam and swing bowling that proved to be their undoing in Bengaluru and in Pune, it’s a pitch assisting spinners that has left them gasping for breath. On the second morning of the second Test, Virat Kohli was bowled in a bizarre fashion by Mitchell Santer with the seasoned batter missing a juicy full toss as he attempted to go across the line.
It was a shot that left the Pune crowd into stunned silence with even Kohli showing his disappointment at his poor attempt before making the long way back to the pavilion. Former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar branded it as the ‘worst shot’ of Kohli’s career.
“Oh dear! Virat will know himself that he has just played the worst shot of his career to get out. Got to feel for him…coz as always he came out with solid & honest intent,” Manjrekar posted on X (formerly Twitter).
