Virat Kohli led RCB to victory over PBKS and gifted a bat to young star Musheer Khan, who shared his gratitude on social media.

After Virat Kohli played the anchor, leading the Royal Challengers Bengaluru to victory over the Punjab Kings at Mullanpur on Sunday, the batting icon made a heart-warming gesture to one of PBKS’ young stars.
Musheer Khan, the younger brother of the Indian international Sarfaraz Khan, was roped in during the mega auction for Rs 30 lakh. He shared a post on Instagram where he revealed that Kohli had gifted the youngster one of his bats. This has become a usual practice for the batting icon, who has even given his bats to current stars like Rinku Singh, which went viral at the time.
Musheer Khan in a heartfelt post on Instagram wrote, “A million thanks for the bat and Viratbhaiiya & a billion for the love!”
The 20-year-old star had a memorable campaign during the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2024, where he finished as the second-highest run-scorer with 360 runs in 7 games. He has also represented Mumbai in the first-class format, playing 9 games for the state and scoring 716 runs.
He even had a memorable knock during the Duleep Trophy campaign last yea,r where he scored 181 runs in 373 balls for India B, which was led by Abhimanyu Easwaran against the Shubman Gill-led India A. Yet he has not been able to get a game for the Punjab Kings, who have a stacked batting order with stars like Shreyas Iyer, Prabhsimran Singh, Priyansh Arya and many more.
PBKS suffered their third defeat of the season with RCB comfortably chasing a target of 158 thanks to Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal’s fifties. But it was the bowling unit that set the platform, with the pair of Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma taking two wickets each.
Both PBKS and RCB have been amongst the best-performing teams of the tournament, with both sides on track to secure a spot in the playoffs. Both teams are set to be back in action in their games against Kolkata Knight Riders away and the Rajasthan Royals at home, respectively.
Musheer would hope to get a chance at some point this season so he can make an impact, as many youngsters have done throughout this edition of the Indian Premier League. But with six games to go in the league stages, it remains unlikely that he would get a look in, considering how the franchise has gone so far.
