Batting superstar Virat Kohli has 746 runs to his name in 17 Champions Trophy matches played so far for Team India across four editions.

India will face New Zealand in the final of the Champions Trophy 2025 on Sunday, March 9. During the match, which is scheduled to take place at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, star Indian batter Virat Kohli will have a chance to create history. If Kohli, who hammered 84 runs from 98 balls against Australia in the first semifinal played on March 4, manages to score at least 46 runs in the summit clash, then he will break Chris Gayle’s record and become the leading run scorer in Champions Trophy history.
During his playing days, Gayle made 17 Champions Trophy appearances for Men in Maroon, and with the help of three centuries and one fifty, scored 791 runs. Kohli, on the other hand, has 746 runs to his name in 17 matches played so far for Team India across four editions.

In India’s last match against Australia, Kohli broke Shikhar Dhawan’s record of 701 runs to become India’s leading run scorer in the Champions Trophy.
In addition to that, Kohli will have a chance to finish as the leading run scorer in the Champions Trophy 2025. Kohli has 217 runs to his name in four matches played so far in the ongoing tournament. In the list of batters with the most runs in the Champions Trophy 2025, as of now he sits at the No. 4 position.

If Kohli scores at least 11 runs more than any other player who will feature in the final, then the 36-year-old Indian batters will pip England’s Ben Duckett (227 runs in three matches) and win the leading run scorer award.
Kohli has 14,180 runs to his name in 301 ODIs played so far for Team India. If the former India captain scores at least 55 runs in the summit clash, then he will overtake former Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara in the list of batters with most runs in ODIs and take the No. 2 position.
