India has made two changes to the playing XI for the 2nd ODI against England, which is taking place at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Sunday.

The second ODI of the ongoing three-match series between India and England is taking place at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Sunday (February 9). England captain Jos Buttler has won the toss and opted to bat first in the must-win match for the English team. The visitors have made three changes to the playing XI for the second ODI, and India has made two. Batting superstar Virat Kohli, who missed the series opener in Nagpur on Thursday (February 6), is part of the playing XI on Sunday along with 33-year-old Varun Chakaravarthy, who is making his ODI debut for Men in Blue.
To make way for the two Vs, India has left out one top-order batter and one spinner from the first ODI’s playing XI.
Here’s a look at the complete list of changes in Team India for the 2nd ODI against England from the series opener played in Nagpur:
OUT: Yashasvi Jaiswal and Kuldeep Yadav have been dropped from India’s playing XI for the second match of the series. Jaiswal made his ODI debut in Nagpur and scored 15 runs from 22 balls as an opening batter, whereas Kuldeep, in his first match for India since October 2024, accounted for the dismissal of one batter for 53 runs in his quota of 9.4 overs. During the toss, Indian captain Rohit Sharma said that Kuldeep has been rested for the match.
IN: Virat Kohli is back in India’s playing XI for the second ODI. The 36-year-old right-handed batter, who has 13,906 runs to his name in 295 ODIs played so far, missed the first match of the series due to an injury-related issue. Varun Chakaravarthy is also playing for India on Sunday. The 33-year-old cricketer from Tamil Nadu, who was added to India’s ODI squad after his super show in the T20I series, received his maiden ODI cap from Ravindra Jadeja.
Changes for England: Mark Wood, Jamie Overton, and Gus Atkinson are playing for England in the second ODI in place of Jofra Archer, Brydon Carse, and Jacob Bethell.
