Marnus Labuschagne was batting on 12 runs from 54 balls when a ball by Nitish Kumar Reddy kissed an edge of his bat and travelled straight to Virat Kohli, who was fielding in the second slip. The former India captain and legendary batter made no mistake and completed the catch to help India take the third wicket in the morning session of the ongoing second day’s play of the third India-Australia Test at The Gabba in Brisbane.

After completing Labuschagne’s catch, who scored a fine half-century in the second Test, which was played from December 6 to 8 in Adelaide, Kohli celebrated aggressively, and his finger-on-the-lip celebration aimed at Aussie fans went viral on the internet.

Kohli was charged up on the field on Sunday, and before taking Labuschagne’s catch on the second ball of the 34th over of Australia’s first innings, he also completed Nathan McSweeney’s catch. McSweeney was caught by Kohli in the second slip off Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling. He was dismissed by the world No. 1 Test bowler on the third ball of the 19th over.

Before returning back to the pavilion, McSweeney faced 49 balls and, with the help of one four, scored nine runs.

The right-handed batter was the second Aussie to get out in the morning session of the second day’s play. Before him, Bumrah removed Usman Khawaja for 21 runs. The left-handed batter was caught behind by Rishabh Pant for 21 runs. By taking Khawaja’s catch, Pant completed his 150 dismissals in Test cricket for India, and by doing so, he joined MS Dhoni and Syed Kirmani in the elite list.

In the morning session of the second day’s play, Aussie batters managed to score a total of 76 runs in 29.4 overs and lost three batters. At the time of lunch break, former Australian captain Steve Smith was batting on 25 runs from 68 balls, and last-match centurion Travis Head was on 20 runs from 25 balls.

Bumrah has picked up two wickets so far in the first innings for 26 runs in 14 overs, and Nitish has one wicket to his name in six overs for 16 runs.
