A heartwarming moment between Virat Kohli and two ball boys has taken the internet by storm. The incident unfolded during the first innings of the second ODI between India and England at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Sunday.

While fielding near the boundary, Kohli walked up to the ball boys and extended his hands. Overjoyed, the young fans eagerly shook hands with the Indian cricket star, with one even celebrating the special moment with a double fist pump.

The touching interaction was captured on video and shared by the England cricket team’s official fan group, Barmy Army, on X (formerly Twitter), with the caption, “Awesome, this.”

Kohli, who missed the first ODI due to a knee issue, returned for the second match but had a forgettable outing with the bat, scoring just five runs off eight balls before being dismissed by Adil Rashid in the 20th over.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma led India’s chase of 305 runs with a spectacular knock of 119 off 90 balls, smashing 12 fours and seven sixes. Playing his 50th ODI as India’s captain, Rohit notched his 32nd century in the format, steering the team towards victory.

Speaking in a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Rohit Sharma talked about his innings and also said he knows what is required of him. “

This is what I am talking about, man. I mean, look… When people have played for several years and scored so many runs over the years, okay, that means something. I’ve played this game for a long time now, and I understand what is required of me. So, it’s just about going out there and doing your thing, and this was what I did today; it was one of my things,” Rohit said.

“In my mind, it was just about doing the things that I do, bat the way I do, try to bat the way I do. Like I said, I’ve been here long enough, so one or two knocks are not going to change my mind. But… just another day in the office,” he added.

India secured a four-wicket win in the second ODI to secure a 2-0 lead in Cuttack. The hosts scored the winning runs with 33 balls to spare. India kicked off the ODI series on a promising note with a four-wicket victory in the opening contest. The third and final ODI of the series will be played in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, February 12.
