Chris Lynn was sent back thanks to a superb diving catch by Chris Green in the Big Bash League.
Sydney Thunder spinner Chris Green pulled off a stunning catch to dismiss Adelaide Strikers batter Chris Lynn in the third Big Bash League (BBL) 2024/25 fixture. Sydney Thunders won the toss and elected to bowl first at the Manuka Oval on Tuesday, December 17. With Matt Short’s early departure, Lynn was tasked with anchoring the innings for his side. His presence on the pitch, however, was short-lived after Green removed him in the opening delivery of the third over. The Sydney Thunder bowler dismissed the veteran Aussie batting star for two runs in four balls with a quick dive off his bowling.
The official account of BBL has now shared the wicket’s video on X (formerly Twitter). “Super catch! Chris Green removes Chris Lynn with a superb take off his bowling,” read the post.

While some fans were stunned by Chris Green’s picture-perfect catch, others questioned Chris Lynn’s current form in T20 cricket. One of them wrote, “Chris Green’s brilliance! Takes a stunning return catch to dismiss Chris Lynn.”
Another wrote simply commented, “Beautiful catch.”
One netizen added, “Chris Lynn is the Latrell Mitchell of Big Bash, has not produced for five years but is still considered elite.”
Another commented, Well this has to be one of the reasons why Brisbane Heat let Chris Lynn Go. His peak in cricket is gone.”
Chris Lynn was caught and bowled in a rather soft dismissal. The Aussie batter couldn’t judge the ball appropriately and defended it straight back into the bowler’s hands. The delivery was flat and seemed like it had stopped on the batter. Lynn positioned himself into a firm push-defence stance and hit the delivery too well. Green flew to his right to pluck the ball lower mid-air. Lynn couldn’t believe what had just occurred as he threw his head backwards in despair, while Green celebrated the important wicket with his team.
Following Chris Lynn’s dismissal, the Adelaide Strikers lost one wicket after another in frequent intervals. Crucial knocks from Jake Wealtherald, Jamie Overton and James Bazley helped the side put up an 182/8 total. Chris Green wrapped up his four-over bowling spell with figures of 3/27.
The second innings saw Sam Konstas lead Sydney Thunder’s chase with a quick-fire half-century. He hit eight boundaries and two sixes before losing his wicket to Fabian Allen in a lbw affair. Sydney Thunders stood at a score of 98/3 after 11 overs of play.
