Karachi Kings captain David Warner gave an enthusiastic kid a somewhat silent treatment during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) match recently. Greeted by the passionate child fan ahead of his team’s league-stage clash on Monday (April 21), Warner surprisingly avoided him, giving him a cold fist bump even as the kid tried to shake the Karachi skipper’s hands.
A clip from the awkward moment that took place before the match toss is going viral on social media.
Warner looked too caught up with his thoughts and stood still even as the kid tried communicating with him and wanted to click a picture to savour a lifetime memory of meeting the Australian batting legend.
The Karachi captain was waiting for his Peshawar Zalmi counterpart Babar Azam and had little excitement to offer in response to the child even as the latter appeared all too thrilled to get a rare moment with him.
Warner is renowned for his many heartening fan interactions and fond gestures, especially towards kids, to whom he has even gifted his gloves and the bats several times in the past.
The 38-year-old Warner has scored 106 runs from five innings of PSL 2025 so far including one half-century. The Warner-led Karachi Kings have won three of their five matches of the ongoing season so far. They are currently second on the PSL points table.
Karachi Kings next face Quetta Gladiators on Friday.
