Ed Sheeran linked up with Riyan Parag and Tushar Deshpande of the Rajasthan Royals where he put his batting to the test against the rising talents of Indian cricket.

Popular music artist Ed Sheeran channelled his inner cricketer after joining Rajasthan Royals at their camp ahead of the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The English musician is currently touring India and has already visited multiple cities.
He recently met the England cricket team when they were in Pune for the fourth T20I against India. Sheeran took his love for cricket a step further by joining the 2008 IPL champions at their camp amid his tour. The global pop sensation even put his batting skills to the test, hitting a few shots against Rajasthan Royals’ players during his visit.
The IPL franchise has now shared a video of Sheeran’s wholesome meet-up on X (formerly Twitter). “Won the toss and asked Ed Sheeran to bat first!” the post read.
In the video, Ed Sheeran can be seen linking up with Rajasthan Royals stars Riyan Parag and Tushar Deshpande at the camp. The English musician received a team jersey bearing the name of the legendary Shane Warne on the back. “Oh wow! Shane on the back,” Sheeran said as he showed off the cricket shirt to the cameras. “Alright, let’s go play some cricket,” the pop sensation added after he donned the jersey.
Ed Sheeran looked every bit like a part of the Rajasthan Royals team with his time at the nets soon turning into quite the spectacle. The English artist showed his surprisingly good bat swing, leaving Riyan Parag impressed. The Indian all-rounder admitted in the video that he didn’t expect Sheeran to have such a clean swing. “He’s got a good swing,” Parag said. Before wrapping up the warm meet-up, Sheeran added a special touch by gifting Ipswich Town jerseys to Riyan and Tushar Deshpande.
Rajasthan Royals will hunt a second IPL crown in the 2025 edition of the franchise tournament. Sanju Samson will lead the squad in the upcoming campaign. The former IPL champions have put together a formidable team with some explosive talent including the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shimron Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel. The 2008 winners also grabbed some headlines during the IPL 2025 mega auction, securing the services of Jofra Archer, Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana and Nitish Rana.
In the 2024 IPL season, Rajasthan Royals couldn’t make it past the second qualifier in the playoff stage. They lost the fixture by 36 runs to a Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
