Legendary India spinner Harbhajan Singh is winning the internet after a heartwarming interaction with a ground staff member during the Brisbane Test. The turbanator was on commentary duty during the third Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. During the fixture, the retired spinner recognised the efforts of the ground staff members who were working hard due to frequent interruptions caused by rain.
Harbhajan spoke to one specific staff member and then gifted him his red blazer. The staff member was overjoyed as he humbly accepted it with a wide grin. A fan has now shared the interaction’s clip on X and wrote, “What a wonderful gesture by Harbhajan Singh. A true gentleman on and off the field, spreading kindness and inspiration wherever he goes. Love you Pajiii.”
In the video, Harbhajan said he promised the staff member he would gift him his jacket. “Thank you very much. You have been very kind. You worked very hard over here and this morning I’m gonna give you my jacket and I meant it,” he said. The staff member thanked the Indian legend before happily putting the jacket on. He then resumed his work, carrying the camera cart away.
This wasn’t the first time Harbhajan was spotted in a light-hearted video. On the opening day of the Brisbane Test, Harbhajan was seen engaging in a chat with his ex-teammate, Virat Kohli. While rain played spoilsport during the fixture, the Indian duo helped brighten up the gloomy atmosphere at The Gabba.
The incident unfolded before play began on December 14. Virat Kohli was seen performing some impromptu dance moves that left Harbhajan Singh in splits. Kohli’s contagious energy compelled the retired spinner to join in the fun.
Harbhajan was wearing a white blazer with pink stripes during his exchange with Kohli. He later spoke about what occurred between the two at that moment. “Kohli looked at me and he was like ‘Jitender (actor) idhar aa gaya?’ (Did Jitender come here?) and then he started singing ‘Naino Mein Sapna, Sapno Mein Sajna (Jitender’s famous song),’” Harbhajan revealed to StarSports, as per multiple outlets.
Harbhajan Singh claimed he initially didn’t understand the joke as Virat Kohli was far from him. “Didn’t understand what he was doing at first, because he was a little far away. Then he couldn’t resist, so he came closer to me, and then he started doing the hook steps. I was like, I made a mistake man!” he concluded.
The Gabba Test ended in a draw on Day 5 after rain continued to interrupt play. The series still stands at 1-1. The two cricketing titans will now have equal opportunities to take the lead in the upcoming Boxing Day Test in Melbourne on December 26.
